I am a hands on parent with a strong interest in the links between gratitude, connection and emotional intelligence. I am passionate about finding ways to give children a space that is as solid and secure as possible so they can grow and flourish in their world.
Life before children
Since 2005 I have run my own writing business helping my clients develop resources that support their staff and grow their business. Prior to this, I spent most of my working life involved in education and training, working for public schools, private training providers and in the university sector in a variety of roles.
Learning to be a parent
When I became a parent, my work continued but was shifted to the side as my responsibility for nurturing two precious lives took over. Parenting has been (and continues to be) the greatest and most rewarding challenge of my life. It has taught me more about myself than I could ever have imagined and I will be forever grateful to my children for being my greatest teachers!
I found becoming a parent very overwhelming and I am grateful for all the parenting courses, mindfulness courses and resources that helped me extend my skills so I can support my kids as best I can. I’ve also appreciated the chance to take an active role in my kids’ school. Contributing as a volunteer, being on the School Board and the school’s Positive Behaviour Support Committee gave me a wonderful community of friends as well as the opportunity to better understand the world my kids are living in.
Where to from here?
I recently combined my skills and interests to create the Cards to Connect® website providing resources that aim to help parents, carers and educators to connect with and enjoy their children. My intention is to share what has worked for my family in the hope that it will help others too.
Wishing you every happiness.
